Ell-Saline Boys Snap Slide in Ellinwood

The Ell-Saline boys snapped a five-game skid with a 48-45 overtime win at Ellinwood last night.

The Cardinals rallied in the final 30 seconds of regulation, scoring five straight points to tie it and send the game to overtime. Keegan Hays hit a 3-pointer, and then a pull up jumper with 3 seconds left to tie the game.

Kaleb Whitehair took care of things in overtime, scoring four of the five Ell-Saline points. Whitehair had 14 points.

The Cardinals are 7-11 and host Sedgwick on Tuesday.

The Ell-Saline girls lost at Ellinwood last night 60-47.

Ell-Saline turned the ball over 13 times in the first half as the Eagles built a 38-21 halftime lead. Ell-Saline pulled within 12 at 44-32 at the end of the third quarter, and managed to get the lead under 10 twice in the fourth quarter, before Ellinwood held on down the stretch.

Aubrey Wilson and Darriane Wikoff each scored 13 points for Ell-Saline. Sesely Omli chipped in 10. The Cardinals finished with 28 turnovers.

The Cardinals are 13-5 and face Sedgwick on Tuesday.
