The Saline County Emergency Management Office is ready for a "Storm Fury on the Plains" this week.

The agency, in partnership with the National Weather Service, is hosting a weather and storm safety presentation titled "Storm Fury on the Plains".

According to the emergency management office, a National Weather Service meteorologist will teach the basics of thunderstorm development, storm structure, the features to look for, and where to find them. What, when and how to report information as well as basic severe weather safety are also covered.

The session is a multi-media presentation, which includes detailed video. No prior experience is required, there is no registration necessary to attend, and the classes are free.

The spotter training class in Salina is this Monday evening at Salina South High School beginning at 6:30.

Members of the KSAL Severe Team will attend the session. They will be handing out brand new 2013 KSAL Storm Alert Maps, and registering people to win a weather radio which will be given away during the session.

Why name this Storm Fury on the Plains? Plus can they really afford to give away the radio?
