Police Have Totes Full of Stolen Property

Jeff Garretson - Tue 12:34 PM 02/19/2013

The Salina Police Department is trying to match stolen property with their owners.

According to Lt. Scott Siemsen, numerous stolen items that were once hidden in a storage unit - have gone unclaimed.

Lt. Siemsen tells KSAL News that SPD is holding 10 plastic totes full of tools and miscellaneous items believed to be taken during a months long spree of over 30 business burglaries around town.

Items range from automotive tools, hand power tools and tool boxes. Siemsen says those concerned should stop by the front desk and give a quick description of the item they are missing so the stolen property can be returned.

Back on February 6th, Police arrested 31-year-old Michael Cox and 33-year-old Stephen Rowson, both of Salina in connection to multiple burglaries that date back to September of 2012.

Hmmm these people already collected insurance for this stuff so if they take back their items they should pay back the insurance company as they would be committing insurance fraud. So in reality the cops are helping people to break the law.

t--bone, it isn't fraud since the claim was filed in good faith, it is up to the insurance company what happens if the property is found but they usually just leave the matter alone as there was no intent to defraud anyone

There may not be intent but the insurance company should get the items or it is a crime. The victim was made whole for the lost.

The truth that hurts is Todd P does not enforce the rules he makes up with everyone on here. Someone is going to get discriminated against by him kicking them off here and file a major lawsuit against the station. Every site available that comments are accepted either does an initial check of the person and/or publish's all the rules that need to be followed except KSAL.
