The Salina Police Department is no longer attempting to locate the driver of the Jeep.

Salina Police resolve an incident where four children say a man tried to entice them into a vehicle.

Police on Thursday asked for the public's help in finding the driver of an SUV that was allegedly involved in an incident at the corner of Belmont and Ohio Streets.

Police Friday afternoon say that thanks to assistance from the news media, a credible witness has been located who observed the incident at Belmont and Ohio. The witness saw the driver of the SUV intervene with the children as they were throwing snowballs while standing near the traffic lanes.

The Salina Police Department is no longer attempting to locate the driver of the SUV.

Glad it ended this way. Good job by the police and the witness. I'm glad somebody's life was ruined. Brats trying to cover their own self's ,sounds like.

The police should file charges against these kids as they could have ruined a persons life plus costing that person alot of money to defend himself. If they do nothing these kids will think its a big joke.

That is what the police should do but they were to busy giving out seatbelt violation tickets Saturday which is more important.

Why do I waste my time on you tbone, I guess so others don't read your ill informed comments and leave wondering if true. AGAIN, traffic officers are out there writing tickets, an aspect of law enforcement needed because if they were not out there you would be commenting on how it was needed, and patrol officers are out there taking reports and watching for stuff to happen in front of them. Detectives are out there investigating past crimes that patrol took. It all works at the same time, so when you say that is all they are doing, you are flat out wrong. Just because you got one minor seatblet ticket 7 years ago, you don't have to wage tough guy keyboard war on the cops.

Tlittle, Good post. There is a great book out there called "The Broken Window." It describes why law and code enforcement at all levels it important. Rudy Giuliani used the concepts to reduce crime in New York. The individuals in this incident were described as "children." I assume they were young enough that police thought a good talking to would be better than ruining their lives by filing charges :)
