Dave Foor - Mon 11:13 AM 03/04/2013

Two thefts of electronic equipment are being investigated by Salina police.

Police say on February 28th between about 5 and 7pm two HP laptop computers were taken from a debate room at Kansas Wesleyan University, 100 East Claflin. Total loss is placed at $600.

Between the first of December and the first of February, 55-year old David McDowell of 215 South Penn, reported a laptop computer, a monitor, two cameras and other equipment was stolen from his home.

McDowell's insurance company asked for a police report to be made, which was done on March 1st.

Total loss about $1500.

You would think an institution of higher learning would learn by previous thefts of computers that they need to lock them up. Evidently someone in charge has no common sense.

Right but look at this other guy reporting betwen December and the first of February he does not notice his computer, monitor and other equipment missing? The cops should have arrested him for filing a false police report. The county attorney should be filing insurance fraud charges against him. Hopefully his insurance company will not pay the claim.

Another prime case of if you need money and have something insured then report it missing to collect a check.
