Saturday Seatbelt Results

Dave Foor - Mon 11:47 AM 03/04/2013

Salina police conducted seat belt enforcement operations at three locations from 5:30 till 9:30 Saturday.

Officers were stationed at Ohio and Iron, Kenwood Place Drive and Midway, and 9th and Saturn.

The five officers wrote 32 seat belt citations and 10 other citations for violations like speeding, illegal U-turns, and no proof of insurance.

The seatbelt enforcement program is paid for by a grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation.

If my window would have been broke out and these cops were writing seatbelt tickets I would be in the city managers office demanding the chief of police and anyothers involved in this be fired immediately. Also if the Kansas Department of Transportation has enought funds in their budget to give grants out for this then their budget should be slashed in half and the top 50 people of that department laid off.

Yes, because these people were breaking windows between 530 and 930. Good call.

Wearing seatbelts save lives. Not wearing one is against the law. Some children have parents that won't protect them so the government (police) have to go out and try to do what we, as adults, should be doing anyway. Duh. Wear your seatbelt and they won't have to spend time babysitting you which takes time away from fighting crime. Better yet, join your neighborhood watch group and keep an eye on your own neighborhood to help out. Oh wait, that would require doing something positive for your community. Forgot who I was talking to there for a minute - a clueless idiot(s).

Beachbum you probably never seen a beach. Its my right to use a seatbelt or not. All Kansas cared about the federal money nothing else. I agree with the other poster they need to cut the department of transportation 's budget.

I have seen the beach, as a matter of fact. I think I seen you there. You were the one with you head in the sand. From your comment it's still there. You don't have a right to drive it is a privilege! Obey traffic laws or stop driving. Simple!

That bull about being a priviledge is just that. Try taking that privilege away from everyone tomorrow and see what happens.

Wow funny stuff , the SPD has bigger fish to fry in stopping rampant crime in town I'm sure the department of transportaton forces towns to Use or loose these funds for seatbelt enforement My biggest concern is loosing one's personal choice to use a seatbelt or not this was rammed down our throats so they can make more from tickets this is no differnent than states that make you wear helmets if you ride a motorcycle some do and some don't ,Its boils down to loosing our freedoms

well with a name like Bubba I bet in prison you were the one they watched for when other inmates dropped the soap , All I'm saying is this seatbelt thing isn't a priority its a personal choice being taken away by the goverment they keep eating away at, soon the feds will want our GPS tracking codes to watch us driving and montior our every move then how would you like that Mr Bigshot

Oh look beachie has a beach friend Boboo. Naturally you would not like to have people speak out on the wrongs being done as you 2 probably solve all your problems in the cat sand box mentioned above. If there were not people who had no fear of speaking out then the politicians would take our freedom of speech away. It is my right to wear or not to wear a seatbelt and the only one affected by that decision is me, not anyone else. I fought to save our freedoms but everyday we loose more and more of them.

I knew this one would bring everybody out of the woodwork! The freedom that this country is about and that some of you fought for isn't the freedom to do whatever you want to do. It's the ability to practice whatever religion you want to, speak out when you want, and live where you want. I won't get into it here, but not choosing not to use a seatbelt does indirectly affect other people.

well bubba you of all posters on here should know what fighting for rights is all about then if you served our country i am grateful , but its still disturbing seeing our freedoms diminished by politians that lay awake all night thinking of more things they can impose on the unsuspecting public

Sounds like a bunch of old men that have been pi$$ed on at the bingo hall again. You guys crack me up how you bicker about something that really don't make a $hit. Big deal, if you get stopped and have to pay a fine, then ya do. If you wear a seatbelt and don't get stopped and don't have to pay a fine, then ya don't.

Once again ifyousayso who has never served in the military is speaking out against our rights as citizens. What I find funny if this was a gay group complaining about rights everyone would be jumping on the band wagon. But some vets complain and they are chaisized for their comments.
