A fire damages a Central Salina home late Tuesday afternoon.
First responders were called at around 4:00 to the report of a fire inside a home at 611 Whittinghill. There was heavy smoke when the first crews arrived.
Firefighters found a fire in the living room, and were able to quickly get it under control.
Captain Jerry Short from the Salina Fire Department says that the fire was contained to the living room area. He says there is not major structure damage, but there is a lot of smoke and heat damage.
The residents of the home exited safely before crews arrived. There were no injuries.
According to Salina Fire Marshal Roger Williams, the fire was started by a child playing with a lighter.
