A Kansas House committee is considering a bill to expand the number of public buildings where people with concealed-carry permits may bring firearms.
A Kansas House committee is considering a bill to expand the number of public buildings where people with concealed-carry permits may bring firearms.
The Federal and State Affairs Committee scheduled debate on the measure Wednesday. Endorsement by the panel would send it to the full House.
Kansas now prohibits concealed firearms in most government buildings.
The bill would let the state, cities, counties and townships ban concealed guns in their buildings only if they had electronic equipment and officers at public entrances to check for weapons.
Public institutions of higher learning could still exempt themselves from the requirement for four years. Government-owned hospitals and nursing homes could do the same.

I don't think that ANYPLACE should prohibit the carrying of concealed weapons if you have a permit, that is the beauty of conceal carry nobody knows that you are carrying. I have a CCW permit and I ALWAYS carry, even in places that says I can't and nobody notices, because it is CONCEALED.

You really don't think a courthouse should prohibit firearms? Should we let the friend/enemy of a person on trial sit in a courthouse hiding a firearm waiting to hear a verdict?

They do have CCW laws in place. Do obey them. Billy Badasse's don't have any business with a concealed carry license. The government just waits for any excuse to try to ban anything with guns. You've seen it and heard it as of late.

Did you notice that this law is written so people with a CCW permit can be banned from the state capital where the legislators work because the state can afford guards and electronic equipment to check for weapons? However, council members and county commissioners in the smaller cities and counties will not be afforded this option because the required security measures are too expensive. I say defeat this bill and leave it up to the local government entities to decide if they want weapons to be permitted in their buildings.
