Police Want Students to Buckle Up
Jeff Garretson - Wed 12:54 PM 03/06/2013
Salina Police will be looking for drivers and passengers who are not buckled up around schools.
Lt. Russ Lamer tells KSAL News that SPD will be out in force next week at four Salina schools.
Police will implement the S.A.F.E. Program (Seatbelts Are For Everyone) Monday, March 11th, through Friday, March 15th at both Salina public high schools and Salina public middle schools.
Officers will be looking for seatbelt violations made by drivers and passengers around the schools.
Lt. Lamer says those under 18-years of age who are not restrained could be cited with a $60 fine plus court costs.

Taxpayers want police not ticket writers.

What is Lamer going to dress up as at the schools? This guy has gone overboard on this seatbelt deal. I see the police driving around constantly on their cell phones which is more dangerous to other people. Seatbelt usage is only dangerous to the person not buckled up but should be their choice not the governments.

As always, a negative slant at something positive. TB - why do you even bother to comment - police write tickets for traffic offenses - duh. And the great I AM - whether you agree with the law or not doesn't matter. Should we teach our students to break laws just because they don't agree with them? Really? What a great influence you must be.

Hey bum why are you still on here? Are you a relative or do you work for the radio station? To answer the question on what Lamer will dress up as is the mascot of each school. These students have every right not to use seatbelts just as the adults do if they deem they do not wish to. Only their parents should have a say if they want them to wear the belts since they are under legal age. The government continues to take our rights away from us.
