Westar Energy's Green Team will help erect a Skystream 1.8 kilowatt wind turbine at Ell-Saline High School on Friday. The wind turbine at Ell-Saline High School is part of Kansas State University's Kansas Wind for Schools program.

Five rural Kansas schools were selected to receive a small wind turbine for educational and outreach purposes. The Green Team assisted with erecting a turbine at Walton Elementary School in Walton last spring and will help with two upcoming projects: Blue Valley High School in Randolph and Pretty Prairie High School in Pretty Prairie.

To be selected, schools must agree to incorporate wind energy into their science curriculum. The turbine at Ell-Saline High School will help supply electricity to the school's greenhouse.
