An illegal firework is blamed for starting a fire that damaged the outside of a Salina home Thursday night.

Police say that a bottle rocket was discharged late in the evening. It landed in a yard on Kingston Street, and started a grass fire.

The fire ended up damaging vinyl siding on the outside of the home.

Total damage is estimated at $1,000.
