Discount coupons can be picked at the Shelter, 329 N. 2nd Street, Salina, and require only proof of Saline County residency.
The Salina Animal Shelter will once again distribute $25 discount coupons for spay/neuter procedures for pets in Saline County.
Beginning this Saturday three hundred discount coupons will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. The coupons are being offered as part of the Shelter's effort to reduce the number of homeless companion animals in our community.
Discount coupons can be picked at the Shelter, 329 N. 2nd Street, Salina, and require only proof of Saline County residency. These coupons will be accepted as $25 toward the payment of spay or neuter procedures at any participating veterinary clinic in Salina.
In the Shelter's previous spay/neuter coupon campaigns, all coupons were claimed within the first 3 days of the offering. Pet owners are encouraged to pick up coupons at the Shelter as soon as possible.
In previous shelter coupon campaigns over 250 dogs and cats were spayed or neutered. Based on Humane Society of the United States' estimates of typical litter number and size, those 250 pets could have produced up to 4000 offspring in just one year, a good share of which would likely have been unwanted. In addition to reducing their overpopulation, spaying or neutering also improves the long-term health of both cats and dogs.
