Medical Marijuana Bill A Non-Starter
Metro Source News - Fri 08:18 AM 04/22/2011
The program would allow physicians to write prescriptions for marijuana for people with cancer, AIDS, MS and other diseases.
Lawmakers in Topeka appear poised to ignore a measure allowing marijuana to be legally prescribed to chronically ill Kansans.
In an interview the bill's sponsor Gail Finney says a lot of constituents are being ignored. Finney says she is seeking a state-regulated program to allow physicians to write prescriptions for marijuana for people with cancer, AIDS, MS and other diseases.
The Speaker of the House and the chairwoman of the House's health committee have not taken steps to hold hearings or otherwise advance the bill.

Kippguy.. i almost agree with you, but everyone should know by now that its not gonna go the way we want. I agree with the IDEA of "medial marijuana", the problem is there are always ways around that theory. For example, look what happened to California. ANY person can walk into a medial marijuana establishment, say they have anxiety, get a prescription, and go on their marry way. It will turn all middle to upper class communities into trash, steer away tourists, and lower property values. Dont get me wrong, I am not against weed, I just dont think we need any more access to it. Anybody ever seen the movie "Idiocracy"... that is what is going to happen if we legalize weed..there are enough idiots!

God put everything on this planet for a reason. And I do not think his reasoning for marijuana was to create a source of income for the government.

Its stupid to spend our tax dollsrs on incarcerating non violent criminals for smoking a marijuana cigarette...leagal or not if people want it they will get it. At least let's regulate it so the smokers can get good quality cannabis vs the dirty mexican weed. Its a seed bearing plant and God said we should partake of it. I don't smoke any more but keeping it illegal is going against Gods will. It not like they're adding chemicals to break it down like heroin and cocaine.

@NoBlAmEGaMe101--I don't think marijuana should have ever been made illegal. People like you seem to paint with too wide of a brush by implying that ALL smokers of pot are worthless lazy deadbeats. This is simply not true. You will find many productive and highly intelligent pot smokers in all walks of life. It is plain to see that regarding marijuana use, the ignorant one is you.

Wow what a shocker lol. Frankly I am glad, "mmj laws" are not what anyone needs. They are half assed and very wimpy imo. If it is legalized, then anyone can use it for whatever they want. Last I checked most people put in cages and that have had lives up ended werent critically ill, they were normal everyday people moms dads sons daughters brothers sisters grandparents aunts uncles etc...normal people. @why..so its ok if people eat it? But don't light it on fire lol..ok. Allow me to enlighten you, and likely many others, even though you may not be aware of it, you can consume cannabis. People have for tens of thousands of years and do commonly now. So thats ok? Thanks for the laugh.

My GOD, are all anti-marijuana folks really this ignorant? Marijuana (cannabis)and ditch-weed (hemp) are two completely different plants. They are related through the same genus of plant.

Actually heroin is derived from morphine, which is obtained from the opium poppy. If you want to sit around the house banging poppy seeds, be my guest. But if you want opium, morphine, or heroin, you are going to have to PROCESS it first.

Look at a opiate junkie aka pill poppers they are the same as or worse than crackheads. the only unsafe thing about cannabis is that it is illeagal and that people buy into the propaganda and bs the govt. Tells them. Use your brain and think for yourselves the only biases research the govt uses to support its finds are made of lies to benefit big pharmacitcal companies by making the only relief from physical and mental ailments have to be bought from them at a 3500% markup..

NoBiame your comment about Tourists is a joke right. Colorado sees around 5 million Tourists a year. With 2500 dispensary's and growing im not following your thinking. After a quick google search Cali is the most visited state in the nation. And im sure has more MMC than co. You also said it will turn all middle class family's to trash. Ha Ha Ha Ha thats a good one too.
