There's a mega controversy brewing over the record-setting Mega Millions jackpot.
We know that winning tickets were sold in Kansas and Illinois. But it's the winning ticket sold in Maryland that's causing all the commotion.
37-year-old Mirlande Wilson was part of an office pool, but claims to have purchased another ticket for herself, and it's that ticket the single mother of seven tells the "New York Post" was the big winner. Leaving her fellow McDonald's employees out of the winning would mean Wilson would only have to share the record 656-million dollar jackpot with two others.
That breaks down to a lump sum payment of 105 million bucks or slightly more than five and a half million dollars a year for the next 26 years.

Greed-imagine that - she should do the right thing and share it anyway. There's plenty to go around.

Single mother of 7?? 7 Different fathers also probably. I wonder if she will be paying back the welfare she has been getting for the last 20 or so years.

I hope her fellow employees fight this till the death in court!!! Very sad indeed, now, what's going to happen is by the time it's over the lawyers will be the ones getting rich. And, yes, I think the state should attach her winnings IF she was receiving state assistance. Let's do the math shall we, ummmm, Taxes 30%/Lawyers 30%/State 30% (to reimburse assistance) Her being broke in less than a year----PRICELESS!!!

Wow the commenters on here are flat out horrible human beings. We don't know the whole story, we bought multiple tickets, shared witha few different people and our own. It should be easy to figure out if she bought asingle ticket for herself, vs how ever much the rest of the people purchased with her. Seeing that a multiple ticket would show multiple plays, however much they put into their pot. Complaining that she's illegal,on welfare, has 7 kids, whatever, how awful for you to assume what she must be like. You cannot retroactively get money back forpeople on state assistance. Besides, her taxes on the ticket probably paid that off 3xs more than she ever took in. You all are awful.

You could be right, this woman may be here legally and she may be taking care of all of her 7 children without the using taxpayer funds. But how likely is that, she works at Macdonalds? Nothing wrong with working there, but you shouldn't have 7 children and expect taxpayers to foot your bills. Why shouldn't honest legal taxpayers be judgemental. If we deam this kind of behavior to be "OK", this country will continue to go down the tubes.
