Unresponsive Child Flown to Wichita Hospital
Jeff Garretson - Tue 11:25 AM 04/10/2012
The investigation remains open as police seek answers on what events led up to the child's emergency.
An 18-month old girl is in ICU at a Wichita hospital after Salina paramedics found the child unresponsive yesterday.
According to Lt. Scott Siemsen, EMS went to a residence at 602 Gypsum, Monday afternoon around 3:41pm after a 911 call alerted authorities that the girl was not breathing.
Police say the girl was transported to Salina Regional Heath Center, then flown to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Siemsen tells KSAL News that the child is on a ventilator in a pediatric wing of the Intensive Care Unit and listed in stable condition.
Police say a neighbor made the 911 call at the request of the child's mother.
The investigation remains open as police seek answers on what events led up to the child's emergency.

Can already guess what this will all pan out to be.... if mother's don't want their children then give them to someone who does or quit having them!

My heart goes out to this mom and her family! No one deserves to go thru this, and she doesn't deserve to have people judge or question her in this time.

That's scary. My daughter wasn't even a year old, but she was walking, and my little brother picked her up, tripped, and the back of her head slammed against the sidewalk and knocked her out. She had a fractured skull and spent the night in the hospital, and I felt like the worst mother ever. Accidents happen, but if anyone ever accused me of harming my child, I'd slap them silly. nckgurl, If you did not see it with your own eyes or hear it with your own ears, don’t invent it with your small mind & share it with your big mouth.

Why do people always jump to the accusations? There could have been an underlying medical issue that caused the baby to be unresponsive, or a playing accident gone horribly wrong. You don't know that this woman is not a good mom, and shouldn't have been blessed with babies. I pray with all my heart that this baby pulls through and her family stays strong for it.

I had really hoped it wouldn't be child abuse. That's so sad. Another baby? Wasn't Clayden's death enough to make people look at what a gift a child is? Heartbreaking.
