An 18-month-old child from Salina dies at a Wichita hospital, and police are investigating.

Police say that 18-month-old Bre'Elle Jefferson died at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita Tuesday evening at 7:20.

According to Lt. Scott Siemsen, EMS went to a home at 602 Gypsum in Salina Monday afternoon at 3:41pm after a 911 call alerted authorities that the girl was not breathing. Bre'Elle was first transported to Salina Regional Health Center, and then transferred to Wichita.

Siemsen says that when first responders arrived at the home, Bre'Elle's 25-year-old mother and a neighbor were there. The neighbor made the 911 call at the request of the mother.

According to Siemsen, this case is being treated like any other case of this type. He says "we investigate every death of this type for the potential of foul play".

No charges have been filed in the case, but an investigation remains open. Police are awaiting the results of an autopsy.

If you don't know the facts then you shouldn't be so quick to blame the mom, you don't know the story so you shouldn't judge. My thoughts are with this family, its truely sad!

Who said that the mother didn't know anything? Who said she wasn't cooperating with the authorities? NOBODY!!! You don't know the details of the case, so stop pointing fingers! Something tragic has happened to this family, and you people want to jump to conclusions and blame the mother. Why? Cause she is young? I had 3 kids by the time I was 25, does that mean that if 1 of my children died suddenly that I am to blame and should go to jail? NO. I am a responsible adult that had children early. STOP JUDGING 'til you know the facts!!!

:( That poor baby girl. I hope medical examiners figure something out as to what happened. That poor family. And come on people, did you really have to post the mother's age? What does that have to do with anything???

We know enough that we can say these young moms need to keep the wanna be thugs and garbage away from their precious kids. Think about them for a change and not yourselves. you don't need a man let alone one of these dope smoking wanna be's around your babies

Well said Queen! This mom and her family need support in this terrible time, not you people judging her. She is a good person and loves her babies more than anything. So all you people who dont know the story and her then butt out. Its sad that you people are so desperate for gossip that you jump to conclusions to fullfill your life.
