A weekend check-lane nets one DUI arrest. According to Saline County Sheriff, Glen Kochanowski, deputies set up a check-lane from 11pm Saturday through 2am Sunday in the 400 block of N. Broadway.

Sheriff Kochanowski tells KSAL News that during that 3-hour period, 107 vehicles drove through the check-lane prompting seven drivers to be detained. Average delay time per car was 34-seconds.

Deputies found three people with open containers of alcohol, two minors in possession of alcohol and made one DUI arrest. 34-year-old Mauricio Hernandez-Rodriquez of Salina was arrested for driving under the influence. Deputies say he has a prior DUI conviction and had an open container in his vehicle.

The time before they got no one now just one Guy. What a waste of money. The sheriff uses the arguement that its grant monies being used. Does that money grow on trees? No it ends up being taxpayer money when all is said and done.

There weren't more because they announce that there is a check point far enough up the road you can take an alternate route if you want to avoid it. People who have nothing to hide go through, those that don't want caught go around. If they want to catch more, they need to not announce it 10 blocks before you are to stop and put units on those side streets to catch the people going around.
