The death of an inmate inside the Saline County Jail Tuesday afternoon prompts an investigation by Salina Police.
Salina Police are investigating the death of 65-year-old Myrna Eisele of New Cambria. Police say that she was found deceased in the jail early Tuesday afternoon.
Eisele was in jail on a theft charge.
The death appears to be natural. Police are investigating, though, at the request of the Saline County Sheriff's Office. The sheriff's office is the agency in charge of the jail.
It is standard procedure in a case like this for an outside agency to investigate.

It is the law that the KBI not the Salina Police have to investigate any death in a Kansas jail unless it is something very expected such as the inmate was known to have a terminal illness. I don't know, perhaps that is the case here. But then, I don't think any investigation would be needed.

Where did you get your information. Myrna Eisele was 65 years old and was only in jail for a week on theft charges.

What kind of scam is being run here in saline county? letting the police investigate? This is like a wolf getting into your chicken coup then you hire another wolf to investigate. Bad enought the state boys always side with local law enforcement but at least there is hope that there may be juctice done. No wonder the jail is crowded when you are holding old people for stealing when they could be out on bond or released on their own by the courts. It is not like this older lady was a murderer. You would think that old sheriff would be on top of the needs of older people placed into his custody.

viper a 65 year old woman is going to go around breaking into houses. Right... One thing you should know they do not steal from me if they try they leave in a body bag or the dogs have them for dinner.
