Country music superstar Trace Adkins stopped at Grace E. Stewart Elementary School in Salina on Thursday.
Country music superstar Trace Adkins is set to perform Friday night at the Stiefel Theatre in Salina. He showed up in town a day early though, to shoot a segment of his new television show "Great American Hero" which is now in production and will air on the GAC network.
Adkins stopped at Grace E. Stewart Elementary School.
At the school, he spent a couple of hours with a group of second graders. One of the students is battling cancer, and is involved with the Love Chloe Foundation. The "Love Chloe" Foundation raises money to help families who have children who are going through cancer treatments.
The Love Chloe Foundation is a non-profit foundation located in Salina. The foundation was founded by the friends and family of Chloe Watson Feyerherm, a 7-year-old who passed away after a year-long battle with cancer.
One of the foundations programs is "There's a Monkey In My Chair" It designed for children that are missing school because of cancer. Each child is provided with a "monkey kit" which includes a big stuffed monkey that takes their place in school when they are unable to be there. The kits include the monkey with a backpack, a book, and other items that can be utilized by the child and/or their classmates.
Camera crews are following Adkins on his "Songs and Stories Tour". The concept is to follow Trace on his nationwide tour as he celebrates these good folks in their communities who may seem ordinary at first glance, but are doing extraordinary things.
Adkins Friday night concert at the Stiefel Theatre is sold out.
