State corrections officials says most inmates serving time in county jails for sex crimes or murder have been moved back to state prisons.

The move comes after four inmates, including one convicted of two murders, escaped from the Ottawa County jail earlier this month. The prisoners were all caught within three days. But the escape raised concerns about the types of criminals being transferred to county jails because of overcrowding.

Secretary of Corrections Ray Roberts say the state believes the county jails are secure. He says the inmates were moved to ease public concern about violent prisoners housed in jails in Ottawa, Butler, Cowley and Leavenworth counties.

Roberts says the four county jails all were built within the last decade and are newer than state prisons.

Key word here is Most not all. What kind of games are they playing? None of these prisoners should have been placed outside of prison walls to begin with. Those responsibile should be terminated immediately.

if marijuana was legalized, then it would leave a hell of a lot more room for real criminals. its gonna have to happen sooner than later.

Iam...if all the people get trminated that you say should be in most of these new articles the Kansas unemployment rate would rise to 25%. Termination of employment isn't the answer. Accountability and discipline is. We must all learn from our mistakes and strive to do a better job of not letting that mistake happen again.

T-bone, the theory that eliminating a law or two will lower the number of people in jail just doesn't add up. If people are willing to lower their standards so that they knowingly violate laws on a regular basis, those people need to raise themselves up to a higher standard, not the other way around.

Hillbilly why do we need people in these positions that have the common sense of a Billy goat? Why should lives of innocent people be put in jepordy because these folks are incapable of doing the jobs they were hired for?

I honestly feel sorry for you iamgonnagetu. I know you will say I should be fired, or I am stupid for saying that, etc. BUT fact is, you do need a hobby, or at least a friend. But this is your thing, hate is your thing, anti-authority, anti-everything, very pro Iamgonnagetu logic, which thankfully only about 5 people on these forums agree. The rest of us use common sense and feel sorry for you. Hug yourself, you deserve it.
