The Kansas Bureau of Investigation says the number of methamphetamine labs in the state increased dramatically

between 2010 and 2011.

The KBI says the number of meth lab reports increased from 143 in 2010 to 204 last year. Kansas law enforcement reported 24 meth lab incidents in the first three months of this year.

Cherokee and Montgomery counties lead the state in reports this year with six and five incidents, respectively.

Experts say the number of methamphetamine labs has risen across the nation. They attribute the increase to the popularity of methods that require less equipment and pseudoephedrine to produce the drug.

Kansas ranked 14th in the country in meth lab reports in 2011.

How very sad. This drug is taking over so much of the country. Why shouldn't it we glorify it on TV with a show that's all about it. How it's an easy way to make money. I don't see the punishment getting any tougher. We have police officers dealing it....

It's such a pain to get allergy meds now because of the meth heads. And the numbers rise after they put that law into place? Guessing that it's not working.

Dougsmith must be lazy as it does not take much to walk up and buy what you need. You would think Mr. Law Enforcement would not mind a little inconvenience.

More saturated patrolling by law enforcement could result in more labs being found. Naturally that will mean less parking along some business giving out tickets.
