Having had to pay for a broken glass window at a building I own around a year ago, The Glass people are really making a killing on these burglaries!! A simple job that took the guys less than 45mins to complete cost me about $450. Hmmmm, wonder if the Glass companies around town are drumming up business, LOL :) And, no point in turning in to insurance, the rates are so high I've had to raise my deductible to over $1,000 to continue affording the coverage. Iamgonnagetu: You are right, it sure does not appear to be $400 in damage, however, I'm sure that is what the glass company will charge them to fix it!! What a racket!!

If it's such a racket then do it yourself. See how cheap and easy it is to do it. Pay for the glass, clean out the part to be replaced and properly seal the new pane in so you won't come up with the smallest excuse as to why it isn't done correctly.

Well let's see, I did the clean-up before and after. The cost of the glass and supplies (had I ordered myself) around $200. $250 for 45mins of work pretty damn good money for 2 guys I think. That would average out at $160 per person per hour. And, when I was younger I could do it myself, so it's not rocket science!!!

You're right. It's not and yet you didn't do it. I am guessing that there was only one outfit that could do it. When I said clean up I meant clean the area for the glass to fit into, not the broken pieces that you should have cleaned.
