Three high school students in Lawrence are facing suspension for their senior prank that district officials say is a hazing incident.

Seniors at Lawrence High gave some of their friends and younger brothers weird haircuts to kickoff Senior Week over the weekend. Although the haircuts came with parental permission and were performed off-campus, school officials suspended three seniors when they showed up for class Monday.

This is ridiculous!! I suspect by reading this article, noone was injured getting a haircut!! Obviously if these kids did not want their hair cut they would not have participated. Now, if they held these kids down and did them without consent or by force that would have been a different story. That does not appear to be the case here, and, the fact it was done with parental consent indicates to me, it's none of the schools business they did this!!

I agree with you granny, unfortunately with the way things are now, schools can't take any chances.

Your right granny I think also whoever suspended them should be terminated. What kids do off of school grounds is none of the business of school personnel.

In order for there to be hazing, there has to be harrassment or abuse, and since this doesn't seem to be the case (at all) I just don't see how they can justify this. Sounds like they were out to get some students. I imagine now that there is media attention, these students will be allowed back to school. I hope the school board looks into this.

Right on you guy's!! This is one of the most asinine suspensions I have heard of. Sounds to me like everything was above board. I would look as the jerks that handed out the suspensions and most of all appeal, appeal, appeal the suspensions. With a little post thought, I would like to see the school bombarded with e-mail's regarding the suspensions.
