An investigation revealed the truck had been reported stolen in Aspen, Colorado on January 19, 2012.

A Ford pickup truck reported stolen in Aspen, Colorado is recovered in a Salina parking lot.

According to Saline County Sheriff Glen Kochanowski, Saturday evening a deputy noticed a truck that appeared out of place in the parking lot of Quality Inn & Suites, 2110 W. Crawford.

The Ford F150 had Colorado licence plates and was left sitting across parking lines - in an area designated for employees.

An investigation revealed the truck had been reported stolen to the Pitkin County Sheriff's Office on January 19, 2012.

The vehicle is currently impounded in Saline County. The F150 is valued at $6,200.

Sheriff Kochanowski says employees at the Quality Inn had noticed the truck and told investigators it may have been parked there for about two months.

Wow been there for 2 months? and the sheriff's department just noticed it? Unbelievable how far down the sheriff's department has gotten to be. Once a proud agency now the laughing stock of the county. The only plus is they did finally find it. Sheriff Andy where are you and Barney?

2 months and it was not suspicious all the times the sheriff's department drove through there? why all of a sudden did it become suspicious? My other question is why did the motel not do or say anything?

Kudos to the Sheriff's Office taking the time to investigating something that looked out of place, especially since it is a business covered in the city limits. One does wonder why employees at the business would not find it odd that a vehicle shows up out of the blue and has not moved in two months but hey with folks like GETALIFE sometimes the most obvious things get overlooked when dealing with the high school drop outs in this community. I bet someone in Colorado will be happy their vehicle will finally be coming home.

SheriffK KSSimNut thanks for noticing that this was located within the City limits and how little knowledge some of those who comment on this page have on how law enforcement works in this area. I am proud of the Deputy who happened to drive through this business and notice something a little out of the ordinary and did something about it.

little knowledge? I work in that area and see your patrol cars pulling in from time to time on a monthly basis. Evidently the departmant is not aware.

kssimnut why would a sheriff deputy pull into a motel in the city? Its out of their jurisdiction and no crime was taking place. Was he there for another reason that no one wants to speculate on? You seem to know alot about law enforcement and also seem to be the sheriff's favorite on here so give us all some insight.

City Police usually only "Police" inside city limits unless they are called to a scene outside city limits for support/backup. Saline County Sheriff Deputies can "Police" anywhere in Saline County, which includes inside the city limits of Salina. Highway Patrol can "Police" anywhere in the State of Kansas, which is why from time to time you may be stopped in Salina/given a ticket in City limits by Sheriff/Highway Patrol. The jurisdiction boundaries vary in accordance with which law enforcement group is at a scene. When a crime/wreck etc... occurs, I have actually seen Sheriff Deputy on scene before a City Police, in city limits, it just depends on which one is closer and not busy at that time. Did I explain that about right SheriffK? :)

well, let's see... there are about 3 deputies patrolling the entire county which includes 2 major highways... there are about 6 police officers patrolling inside the city limits, only... why is the SO getting "dogged" for not finding something sooner when the PD patrols that area daily??? good job SO for catching it!

Right Granny and Mama. I'm surprised the p.d. didn't pick this ip on their hotel check of tags that you can usually hear them doing at night. Seems like the s.o. went above and beyond on this one and the p.d. was slippin'.

Maybe you should do something about it. Be an officer, go to council meetings, do something more than just complain because that definately does nothing to help.

Ronnie your getting very annoying with your comments which are either not truthful or just plain stupid. When law enforcement falls below what is acceptable then changes need to be made. Your statement to become an officer does not solve any current problems.

@Iam, If you cant handle a difference of opinion without getting upset, you should probably work on that but I can't apologize for not agreeing with you. Name one thing I have said that is a lie. You can't but good try. Lastly, hmm let's see. If you don't like the people working for the p.d. you could become and officer, impliment all of your genious ideas and soon have the department workig in the fashion that you see fit.... Sitting at home and complaining does not a whole lot of anything for anyone. That's the truth.

ronniemur... what was said about you is true and there is not enough room here to point out all your BS. all you ever tell anyone that finds fault with the law enforcement around here is become a cop. Why would anyone want to work under either the chief or this sheriff. Both should have retired years ago and are to old for the job. Working under them you could never change anything. But you use this to try and put people on the spot. There is no reason either of these gentlemen should remain in their positions other than wanting the high pay they receive for doing little or nothing and letting their departments get worst and worst. There are good people in both departments but they are stuck under the thumbs of these 2 men so even they cannot do a darn thing but obey orders.

@theenforcer, I appreciate that you and Iam both say that I lied but cannot point out one instance, proving that people without backbones will say anything to make their opposition look badly. Again, you don't want to affect change then don't, but don't let other people be your excuse for just complaining and never doing.
