Third Suspect Sentenced In Salina Man's Death
Associated Press - Fri 09:09 AM 05/18/2012
The third of four suspects in the death of a Salina man will serve two years of probation.
Twenty-year-old Tyeler Cookson also was ordered Thursday to perform 40 hours of community service for the death of 48-year-old Robert Unselt, who was killed in January during a fight.
Before his sentencing, Cookson testified that Unselt died after hitting his head on the pavement during the fight. He said Unselt started the confrontation with the four men.
Unselt's family has disputed that contention. His wife has filed a $1 million wrongful death lawsuit against the four defendants.

Ahh yes the wife hopes for a settlement for something her drunken/drugged up husband started. Besides destroying 4 guys lives because of his behavior by all means let's reward his wife with a million dollars. Isn't America great. The 4 guys ought to file a countersuit against her.

what a shame than old man let 4 boys kill him and ruin their lives? 4 punks killed somebody and deserve the same thing the old man got. the leniency of their sentancing is as big a crime as the murder they committed

So the way I see this whole thing, they should have all put on their big boy pants and walked away!!! Unselt included. I do not think his wife should be entitled to cashing in on this incident. He was responsible for his own actions that led to his demise. It is very sad so many lives were ruined over stupidity. Unselt family will be deprived of his love and these young men will have to live with this along with their families. Damage is done, cannot undo it, I think they should all pick up their marbles and go home, lesson learned!!!

Sorry Nate this Guy was drunk and mad he was following someone which could have been his son he was fighting with. Granny is right both parties should have kept walking but this old Guy did the attacking. His wife should not gain for what happened to her drunk bully husband who was the aggressor.

4 young men kill 1 drunk old man sounds fair to you getu? did you witness this event? the 4 punks file a countersuit? and damage done walk away. i guess thats true of every crime ever committed once its done lets just forget about it its in the past. a person died. 4 people who had contol of their senses, were far more physically fit killed this person. when u cause the death of another person by an act of violence you should forfeit your right to live in a free society.

nate: By your theory, Mr. Unselt was not accountable for HIS own actions. He made a decision, drunk or sober, to confront these guys, and by what the investigation showed, were simply walking home, down a public street. If these guys were indeed doing something wrong, or disturbing the neighborhood, he should have called the police and let them look into it. I'm truly sorry the man died, this is a HORRIBLE tragedy. Were these guys wrong, you bet, they too should have walked away from this confrontation. They were ALL to blame in this situation. I'm quite certain when they were walking down this PUBLIC street, they had no intention that night of killing anyone. Was justice served? I don't know, did these guys get off too light, perhaps. But, in the end the situation speaks for itself, they all should be held accountable for their own actions, Mr. Unselt included!!
