Police Investigating Possible Theft
Jeff Garretson - Mon 12:04 PM 05/21/2012
A unique jewelry collection is missing.
An Orlando, Florida woman contacted police after her stay in Salina at the Days Inn, 407 W. Diamond Drive.
Jennifer Matherson, 41, told police she may have left a tan bag behind in her room or in the parking lot on Sunday at the motel.
When she returned, the bag holding a David Yerman jewelry collection was gone.
Police say the bag held a number of necklaces, rings and earrings valued at $18,150.

hmmm...seems suspicious to me. First off, I would not carry around $18,000 worth of jewelry, and if I had that kind of money, I would not stay at a Days Inn. I'd get myself an RV. And if you are really that dumb to carry around that much jewelry then I don't feel sorry for you.

I agree with pretty sloppy care of expensive jewelry. In her room or in the "parking Lot" = where on the ground next to her car and pull out without it. What would it be doing in the parking lot----maybe I'm confused. Jewelry of that value should have been in the motel safe - end of story.

"Welcome to Salina, you got it, people will steal it"!!! And, please do not expect to ever hear from our Police Dept again, your report will land in the files with the rest of the ones they don't care about!!! I for one am sorry people cannot even visit our community without getting robbed, burglarized etc... Anyone traveling here and staying better take care of their important belongings, there is a whole lot of this happening around town.

I agree getumgranny. The crime rate seems to have gone thru the roof. But hey on a lighter note, a dui check lane will be set up near every residence this weekend, your local law enforcement is keeping Salina safe.
