A phone scam hits a Good Samaritan.
Police are investigating after an employee at Logan's Road House, 3050 Riffel Drive, is scammed out of more than $1,700.
Lt. Scott Siemsen tells KSAL News that Machalea Goodman received a phone call at the Salina restaurant on Tuesday afternoon from a caller identifying himself as "Saline County Sheriff, Davis."
The scammer went on to tell her that a fellow employee had been arrested on a DUI charge and could bond out if a cash payment of $1,600 was sent by wire. The thief told her the bonding office was located out of state.
Goodman responded by giving a fellow employee the money to send by Money Gram to an office in Mobile, Alabama.
Shortly after the money was sent and picked up in Alabama - the employee in question reported for work.
Total loss is $1,734.
