The man gained entry to the Townsite Building, but could not get into the KSAL studios

A man is arrested overnight after trying to break into the KSAL Studios.

At about 1:30 Friday morning a man appeared outside the KSAL lobby, on the third floor of the Townsite Building at 131 North Santa Fe in Downtown Salina.

The man was unable to gain entry to the locked lobby. He damaged a foyer area, tearing items off walls, knocked an old-style radio and large antique radio tube to the floor, and tore a thermostat off the wall.

The overnight disc jockey on duty called Salina Police. The man was found hiding in a bathroom when officers arrived, and taken into custody.

Police identify the intruder as 31-year-old Anthony Whittecar of Salina. He could face charges that include aggravated burglary, criminal damage to property, and attempted theft.

Police say that alcohol played a factor in the incident.

He may have seen that he wouldn't be shot since he would be the only one packin. What do we think that these signs mean? It means law abiding citizens won't be carrying but the thugs will be. He also may have just wanted a little air time and couldn't afford the advirtising slots.

After seeing KSAL has a "No concealed Carry" sign on their front door, I am glad that I never listen to that station. That sign means everyone in the building will always be unarmed and unable to defend themselves if a criminal ever comes in and goes crazy. What if this loon had gotten into the area where the overnight DJ was at? Obviously the DJ would have been unarmed and unable to properly and efficiently defend him or herself, because of the Left wing anti-gun mentality of KSAL management.

bwildcat, and Travis2... the "no weapons" sign is on the TOWNSITE BUILDING door. The Townsite Building houses three floors of businesses. Morons.

Did you ever stop to think that maybe that sign is there because of TFI family services right on the first floor and it's the first office you come to when you enter from the front. The office is constantly full of kids, great place to have a concealed weapon.

He must have really wanted some Stampede tickets! Actually, I know Anthony and could never picture him doing something like this. Alcohol can really mess a person up, I guess. I hope he gets some much needed help.

The sign should be respected as the law says. I've only met 2 "Billy-bad-asses" that shouldn't have been issued permits. They have the Zimmerman mentality of sticking their noses where they shouldn't be. They aren't the law.

Personally I avoid businesses with the "no carry" signs on the doors. If there are two businesses, one allows concealed carry and one doesn't, the one that does will get my money every time. Schools are a prime example: no weapons of any sort allowed on campus, and look at the rampages which have taken place. If a teacher or student had a concealed carry at Virginia Tech, the toll would have been so much lower. Its been proven time and time again, the stricter the gun laws, the higher the crime rate.

I did get a chuckle out of a KSAL, a conservative station, not allowing CCH. On a more serious, and important note, I'm glad the guy was caught. Nobody wants their business wrecked, and I'm sure the overnight guy was a little on edge. Glad to see everything was taken care of.
