ACLU says Kansas Insurance Law Penalizes Abortion Right

The American Civil Liberties Union wants a federal judge to strike down a Kansas law restricting insurance coverage of abortions.
The American Civil Liberties Union wants a federal judge to strike down a Kansas law restricting insurance coverage of abortions.
In a court filing Friday, the organization outlines for the first time the impact of a statute passed last year prohibiting abortion coverage in general health plans. Patients who want such coverage must buy special riders.
The ACLU says before the law was passed, abortion coverage was offered in general health plans by the insurance companies that accounted for more than 70 percent of the Kansas market. But not all have decided to offer abortion riders, and one says it's not expected that many, if any, riders will be sold.
The ACLU contends the law makes it difficult to obtain abortions. The state says it will file its own motion later.

If I have to pay for your abortion then you should have to pay for my hunting license and deer tags. If I wish to enjoy hunting then I pay for it......you should pay for your own fun and the results that follow. Would you like to accompany me to Alaska to club some baby seals? Do you find the thought of that repulsive? How does it feel to finally see the other side of the coin?

All women that have abortions should be forced to have her ability to have a child removed from her.. Same for the boy cut is tubs and making both couples suffer.. He had much to do with it because he didn't keep it in his pants..

Thank you Boneman for saying the man has a large responsibility here too and should have as much, if not more, trouble to deal with. Men like Troy think single women make and kill babies all by themselves (for fun). And Troy- I wouldn't accompany you anywhere as your very being repulses me.

I agree the man is 50% responsible. Does he have a 50% vote when it comes to killing the baby or letting it live? Is he financially responsible for 1/2, but helpless if the woman decides to kill the baby. Don't think women have fun killing babies. My point above was was this: I don't wish to fund the killing of your baby any more than you want to pay for my hunting trips. You do what you want, just don't expect me to pay for it.

Troy you got it all wrong. You are missing the point. The men being stupid and not thinking clearly was the ones that took there thing out of there pants. The women clearly accepted the situation. They are both 100% responsible. If they didn't want kids then they shouldn't of been messing around.

Also hunting has nothing to do with this. God put animals on the earth for us to kill and have food. God did not give us the ability to have kids so we could kill them.

You are missing my point. Not attempting to assign blame. Simply stating that I do not wish to pay for someone elses situation. Don't read between the lines. If you get pregnant then deal with your situation like an adult. I do not want / need / expect you to pay for any situation I may find myself in. That's it. Was simply using hunting or killing baby seals as an example of something you may not wish to see your money spent on. I do not wish to see MY money spent on killing babies. Insurance should be used to fund the saving of lives, not taking one.

I am not missing your point. I completely understand your way of thinking. I think it's stupid and misogynistic and that is my right.

It is your right. You couldn't be more wrong about me, but it is your right and I respect that.

Troy, this is about the law that made it illegal for PRIVATE insurance companies to cover the abortion costs...So that means you doesn't pay people's abortions except the people who purchases the plan if the restrictions are lifted. Geez...I thought republican party are against the regulations but themselves regulated the insurance companies' policy on abortion...Isn't that hypocritical?

OMG I cannot believe the responses of the males on here. Really Troy? Having an abortion is fun? That was really a dumb response to equate health insurance with a deer permit. Do any of you even know the majority of reasons women have abortions? Rape and ectopic pregnancies are 2 of the main reasons. Being raped is not fun, it is not a 'good time', and surely not the woman's fault! Ectopic, or tubal pregnancies can kill the woman... hmmm not much fun their either. As for the last time I looked at my insurance policy, I didn't see Troy's name anywhere on it saying he was responsible for paying it.
