A Kansas gay rights group has failed to block a conservative Democrat from seeking re-election to the state House.

The State Objections Board on Tuesday rejected a challenge to the primary election filing by Rep. Jan Pauls, of Hutchinson.

The challenge came from Tom Witt, executive director of the Kansas Equality Coalition. The coalition has clashed with Pauls over issues such as same-sex marriage.

Witt questioned whether Pauls truly lives at a former church the lawmaker claims as her new address. Witt said Pauls and her husband cannot live there legally.

Pauls said she has made the former church her home because her previous residence was drawn into another district during the state's political redistricting process.

Great to read this. These gay rights people need to be taught they are not going to control what happens in Kansas.

you guys r so ignorant...its called human rights not heterosexual rights! the LBGTQ community deserves the same rights that you and i both take for granted like getting married. They are not trying to control what happens in kansas they just want equal rights. If you don't approve of gay marriage then dont have one, two men or two women being happy together does not have anything to do with you so the same sex marriage law wouldnt hurt you. so put on your big girl panties and get over it.

Kmjohnson evidently you are the receiver. Do you realize in some countries you gays would be stoned to death. There would be no verbal comments on your views they just kill you like a rabid dog.

I like the fact that Mrs. Pauls is a DEMOCRAT. She can be liberal fiscally and still maintain a certain level of morals. Good for her.

I like the fact that someone has finally stood up to these gays. we need more of the public to do so. There are laws on the books against some of the things gays do sexually and maybe these laws need to be enforced. I wish our country took a stronger stand against these cast offs.

Iamgonnagetu I am not gay actually I am just open minded and believe that everyone should have the same rights. Just because someone loves another person who is the same gender does not make them a second class citizen. You are basically saying that you are ok with discrimination. I believe that you have the rights to your opinions and i have the right to mine. But in referral to your comment about other countries killing gays like they are rabid dogs...aren't we in america? don't we pride ourselves on being the land of the free? In some countries women are shot for showing their ankles in public...we as civil thinking americans find this to be cruel and sexist. Same basic idea with gays in my opinion, they are people just like you and me. But a law preventing gays from getting married will not stop gays from loving who they love. I guess in some states its ok to marry your cousin...just not your gay cousin...

I'm not sure exactly how to feel about all the Gay/Lesbian stuff, at this point in my life I do not see it affecting me really. I do not approve of "same sex" relationships, but that's their business. The way I see it, if they want to be married, so be it. There are many other issues much more critical in our country right now that need attention, I wish things like this would take a backseat to the more important stuff. Many of us older people were raised this behavior was wrong. I do not care how old a person gets, it's still difficult to go against what your parents taught you when you were younger.
