Fans Begin Filling Grounds For Country Stampede
Associated Press - Wed 05:34 PM 06/20/2012
Music fans have begun pitching their tents in north-central Kansas for the annual Country Stampede. The four-day festival opens Thursday at Tuttle Creek Lake State Park north of Manhattan.
Thursday night's headliners include Luke Bryan. Other top acts include Travis Tritt and the Zac Brown Band on Friday night, Toby Keith on Saturday night and The Band Perry on Sunday night.
It's Toby Keith's first appearance at the Stampede since 2002, and his fans include Tim Scott, who serves in the Army National Guard. Scott says that he appreciates what Keith does for the military.
Brad Atha, of Hutchinson, says he's looking forward to hearing two of Tritt's biggest hits - "T-R-O-U-B-L-E" and "It's a Great Day to be Alive."
The Stampede has been drawing about 150,000 fans each year.

Four days 150,000 on a big area that's 42,000 plus a day. So how in the heck can the river festival have 30,000 on a postage stamp of an area?

Toby Keith was there in 2006. Not that any reporter cares about the facts.

Not saying everyone would agree , but this festival is the biggest money grabber you could go too, they screen you like an airport security guard to get in , all the food and drinks are 5 times to high and as the day goes by theres more and more drunken fools staggering around I won't go back

Shouldn't be so cheap, ksfarmdude. When I was going to the Stampede, I did not settle for the cheap general admission crap. I always went VIP and my food and drinks were all free. Not to mention that I always got a seat within the first 10 rows.

Oh you paid alright three times more than general admission price plus you were still almost strip searched at the gate and unless you were gettin free beer (which I assume VIP had) you were probably one of the staggering drunks there , only good thing was seeing the acts up close and when I went I could get pretty damn close anyway to the stage , all I'm saying is its gotten outta hand some binge drink there til they pass out and seen kids pukeing all over one yr a kid died even
