KSAL Staff - Mon 11:21 AM 06/25/2012
A thief steals a laptop computer from an Arizona woman as she refueled in Salina.
Police say that a 59-year-old woman from Mesa, Arizona, was refueling at a convenience store near the intersection of North 9th Street and Interstate 70. She went in the store, leaving the car unlocked.
The woman left, and later discovered the laptop was missing.
Total loss is estimated at $1,400.

You're absolutely right, TheMan. We need to EXCUSE criminals and blame the victims. Sadly, in today's world, locking the car would have saved her, but what about, oh, I don't know... NOT STEALING?

It is sad we cannot trust people anymore, there are many thieves walking amongst us and obviously they are not getting caught. As we have said before, everyone has got to be proactive in securing their valuables. If you are leaving things unlocked/unsecured don't be too shocked when it disappears. She most certainly should have locked her car, someone was obviously watching for an opportunity and when she walked away, they seized the moment. I really wish just one time one of these damn thieves would hit the wrong property, someone that would make them end up peeing and sh@#$ng in a bag!!!

Just keep it locked and loaded, your car locked, and your gun loaded. Not vigilante justice, just common sense.

By God after all your in Kansas home of honest hard working people. This is only one of the things happening out there. Chances are the person that stole it was a person traveling. People know they should lock their cars but sometimes they forget to as she did. The scary thing is she probably had alot of personal info on it that someone else has now.

AND....THAT is makes it more important to lock her car so the info isnt stolen..AND I SAY IT AGAIN!!!!!!HOW LONG does it TAKE to LOCK a car? HUH will someone tell me it takes more than 3 to 5 SECONDS?????????? and that should be more important than getting into the business right away...Especially if it was on the seat beside her instead of in the backseat on the floor...where it couldnt be seen as twell....I JUST don't understand these people ....AND at one of the busiest ones in town...Maybe she wanted a NEW ONE...

YEA!! WHAT CJ SAID..... It only takes a second to lock your doors. And an additional second to unlock them. Now, here is what I dont get... Just "HOW FAR" did she drive before she realized her laptop was gone? Had she stopped at a rest area? Stopped somewhere at a fast food joint? I smell another scam...
