Fireworks Sales Begin In Salina

They can only be discharged in Salina on July 3rd and July 4th, in the county June 27th through July 5th
Consumer fireworks are a wonderful way to celebrate the holidays. But they must be used carefully. According to the National Fire Protection Association, each year nearly 10,000 people are treated at hospital emergency rooms for fireworks-related injuries.
Saline County Emergency Management and the Salina Fire Department urges citizens to be fireworks smart, before, during and after their personal fireworks displays.
Before: Choose an open area away from spectators, homes and buildings and dry vegetation. Use a garden hose to wet down the area before firing.
During: As each device burns out, soak it using a hose, or a bucket of water.
After: Place all used items in a covered, fireproof container and leave it outside and away from homes and buildings.

Please obey the local city and county ordinances regarding the sale and use of fireworks.
Within the city limits of Salina, City Ordinance Sec.14-57.8 allows you to discharge fireworks on July 3rd and July 4th between 8am and 11pm. Fireworks may be discharged on personal property only. Fireworks may not be discharged within 100 feet of any hospital, infirmary, nursing home, or assisted living facility.
In Saline County fireworks can be sold between June 27th and July 5th. Fireworks can be discharged on personal property only in the County between June 27th and July 5th between the hours of 8am and Midnight.
