Kansas Catholic Bishops Hold Statehouse Rally

Governor Sam Brownback has urged a large crowd at the Kansas Statehouse to work to overturn a federal government policy designed to ensure that most employers' health plans cover contraceptives.
Gov. Sam Brownback has urged a large crowd at the Kansas Statehouse to work to overturn a federal government policy designed to ensure that most employers' health plans cover contraceptives.
Brownback joined the state's Roman Catholic bishops Friday in decrying the policy as an attack on religious freedom.
Several thousand people attended.
The rally is part of a nationwide campaign prompted by the mandate announced by President Barack Obama earlier this year.
The mandate included a religious exemption for houses of worship but not religiously affiliated hospitals, charities, universities and social service agencies. Obama later announced a modification, but Catholic bishops nationwide viewed it as inadequate.
U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran had been scheduled to speak but was detained in Washington by Senate business.

obama and sebelius need to but out of a religious organizations business. The Catholics I know that don't take birth control will welcome any new addition to their families. Leave them be. It seems most of the unwanted pregnancies that I hear about are usually irresponsible individuals that take little responsibility for their actions. Such as brood mares on welfare, etc.

If contraceptive coverage is provided as part of a woman’s health insurance, it is her choice to use the contraceptives or not. Governor Brownback and the Catholic bishops are not standing up for religious freedom. They are trying to deny religious freedom to women.

Buster Butt Stain does it again. I cannot help but see this as another one of his ploys. How many secret meetings did he have to have about this one before deciding on it, did he agree not to go after them for child molestation charges if they do this for him? How long is it until election time? By then we can get rid of him and his group of bible Nazis and start bringing Kansas back into this century. I wish they would print his real feelings on things like gay rights, abortions, and immigration, He would be run out of the State in 5 minutes flat. Doing anything and everything to be elected at any cost. Good thing you do not have to take a lie detector test, and always tell the truth to be the Governor of this state, just live in a state of denial all the time, sells out to the highest bidder, and inflict your religious beliefs on everyone in the state. Thankfully, the Federal Government is putting god and Religion where it belongs, out of politics! Moreover, back in the fiction section where it belongs. MJ

Hey masterjace you do not need to worry about this since your gay. The catholic church doesn't either with all the gays they have preaching. Maybe you ought to go spend a week in south central L.A. and see how all those unwanted kids are getting along. Maybe the older ones in gangs can show you how they do not care about anything including your life. Then on to Mexico where they breed like rabbits then cannot support the kids they have so they have to come to the U.S. Open yours eyes gay boy.
