Americans Should Be Outraged at Ft. Polk Incident

Tim Huelskamp - Thu 07:33 AM 06/07/2012

On Wednesday it was made public that a same-sex ‘marriage’ ceremony was performed on the Fort Polk Army Base in Louisiana.

The House of Representatives recently passed an amendment to the FY2013 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) based on the Military Religious Freedom Protection Act (offered by Congressman Tim Huelskamp) to prohibit same-sex marriages from taking place on federal military installations. Congressman Tim Huelskamp released the following statement about the incident:

“Americans should be outraged at what happened at Ft. Polk,” Congressman Huelskamp said. “Not only is it a clear violation of the State of Louisiana’s law to allow this ‘ceremony’ to go forward, but this happened despite last year’s assurances from the Department of Defense that state law recognizing only traditional marriage would be respected and upheld. They clearly lied.”

“When I introduced the Military Religious Freedom Protection Act to be sure that same-sex marriages would not be performed on America’s military bases and then when such provision was included in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), opponents said there was no need to worry about such things happening – particularly in states where same-sex marriage is illegal. But, just a few weeks later, we have an example of a same-sex marriage being performed on a military base in contravention of state law. It’s clear this Administration is intent on advancing its narrow social agenda by whatever means possible. No time should be wasted in investigating this incident.”

I think we have more important things to worry about Tim. An economy struggling to recover, the crisis in Syria, childhood cancer, starving children...........and you want us to waste our time being "outraged" over a ceremony between two men or two women that happened to be in love? It's none of our business - and perhaps it shouldn't be yours either. I think this amendment is a joke myself. It doesn't matter to me or a lot of people actually when/where/how/why same sex marriages happen. We weren't put on this earth to judge others - that's up to a higher power.

Cco709 who in the hell cares about Syria or antithetical country. If they want to kill each other let them do it. The problem we have is sticking our nose into other countries business and end up spending billions of dollars. If we had the money we spent in Iraq and now in afkanistran every person in the US could be given a check for at least $100,000 if not more. As far as this gay thing its got out of hand and needs to be met head on.

Congressman Huelskamp just happens to realize that morality is important to the fabric of a society. Life is more than just going from party to party having sex with whomever you wish. I truly pity you folks who have no clue as to how great our country was, and at the rate at which it is decaying. This will likely be the last generation of free Americans, and America was the last great hope for the world. Our society is like the folks in the ballroom of the Titanic, eating drinking and being merry and not even realizing the ship is already under water.

I pity you that you buy into the doom and gloom idea of the "world is ending" mentality. And for you to think America has it all figured out....omg have you ever left KS? You must be sad and a closet gay. You need to educate yourself on these "sex parties". If you think gays are the only ones going to a party you are misinformed. You basically need to ask yourself - why am I scared of gays? do they make you feel funny? do you also think blacks need separate restrooms cause of the color of their skin? Get educated and open your mind. Like I said EVERYONE deserves a happy life. Quit being so judgmental and more loving.
