Man Drowns, Boy Nearly Drowns In Separate Accidents

People urged to swim with a buddy, and keep a watchful eye on children at all times
One man has drowned and a 6-year-old boy nearly drowned in separate swimming pools in the Kansas City suburb of Overland Park.
The city's fire department said the man died Friday night in a pool at an Econolodge. Later in the evening, the boy was found at the bottom of an apartment pool and rushed to a hospital in critical condition.
The fire department used the twin accidents to remind people to be extra cautious during the summer swimming season. Emergency officials urged people to swim with a buddy and reminded parents to keep a watchful eye on children at all times.

I know this same situation very well. I was once a victim of a situation much similar when I was very young. I remember the day and how everything unfolded. The pool was full of people that day. There were 4 or 5 life gaurds. I was attempting to swim near the deep end of a pool. I was near the ropes so incase I couldn't make it I could grab on to it. I couldn't make it attempted to reach the ropes but could not grabe as I was splashing so much.. I then tried grab ahold of somebody which they thought I was messing around and pushed me off.. After that I was in panic trying to haller for help. No life gaurd could hear or see me.. Next thing I know Im blacked out. I wake up on the concret with life gaurds around me and the ems there..

I was saved by the same kid that pushed me off. He was the one that got the lifegaurds attention.. It was told to me I was out for atleast 2 to 3 minute and any longer I would not have made it.. I spent 2 weeks in the hospital because my lungs were full of water.. So when your swimming and somebody is splashing next to you make sure they are ok and don't assume there horsing.. The lifegaurd can only see so much people..

Funny depends if you are in the water or standing on the side of the pool. Next time don't chase the "Babyruth" and come up to breathe, or buy a snorkel.
