Fireworks are getting the blame for a Wichita fire that seriously injured a woman and her young child.
The blaze started early Sunday in a plastic trash can near the house where people had dumped fireworks remnants. The trash smoldered for hours before sparking a fire that spread to the house.
Fire Lt. Kelly Zane says a 37-year-old woman and her 2-year-old son were the only ones in the home at the time of the fire. They were able to escape.
The mother and son have been taken to the burn unit at a Wichita hospital, where they are both in serious condition. Zane says neither the mother nor her son set off any of the fireworks.

OKAY!!!! LET START HEARING THE "REASON'S FIREWORKS SHOULD BE BANNED THIS YEAR..." For you idiots who want to say "See, someone got hurt..." Someone got hurt by someone who "ACTUALLY" picked up their trash. However, they were negligent in making sure the fireworks were completely out before discarding them. I am "POSITIVELY" sure that those who threw the fireworks into the trashcan, were not deliberately trying to hurt anyone. Now.... lets see how many dumbasses in Salina clean up their fireworks trash...

It is still a result of some dumba++. If there were no fireworks would this have happened? No way people are just not responsible and most times smart enought, so things like this does not happen. WHOCARES your not deliberately trying to hurt someone well deliberately or not someone go hurt and now they are suffering. It would be like me pointing a gun at you in jest and it fires and you get hit in the mouth well I did not deliberately mean to shoot you but it happened and you would be the one suffering.

This poor woman and child!!! Due to other peoples negligence with the fireworks, her and her child will suffer the consequences the rest of their lives!! Very sad indeed. My prayers to them and the families, I hope they are able to pin down the people that were so irresponsible in this matter!!
