Cooler Air On The Way
KSAL Staff - Fri 08:16 AM 07/06/2012
A break from the heat is on the way.
According to the National Weather Service, very hot weather will persist into Saturday across the region. Afternoon and early evening heat indices are forecast to range from 100 to 107 degrees.
A cold front will move through Saturday night through Sunday bringing scattered thunderstorms and cooler air by Monday. Highs Sunday will drop back into the 90. With highs Monday in the mid to upper 80s.
The break from the heat will be welcome. As of Friday, the high temperature in Salina has been at or above 100 for twelve consecutive days. The hottest day so far this year was June 27th, when the temperature peaked at 110.

When we were taught about taking the temperature outside, they said the temperature should be taken in the shade. I really question the temps that are being acclaimed. It's doesn't really seem that the correct temps are truly published. Would you people be so good to give everyone the info on how, when, and where these temps. Also would you educate us on how the "Heat Index" is calculated from temperature, humidity, altitude etc. Thanx!

Shade or no shade it does not matter to me. If I get out of the car 100 feels hot just like 110 or 116 like I seen in the truck today.
