A state board in Kansas has denied parole to a man who's spent three decades in prison after being convicted of killing a state Highway Patrol trooper.

The Kansas Prisoner Review Board rejected a request from George

Rainey, according to The Topeka Capital-Journal. The board won't consider paroling Rainey again until July 2017.

Rainey, 53, an inmate at the state prison in Hutchinson, is serving a life sentence for the shooting of Trooper Ferdinand "Bud" Pribbenow in July 1981 in Butler County. Pribbenow stopped a car speeding on the Kansas Turnpike north of El Dorado and was shot six times.

During a hearing in May, members of Pribbenow's family asked the board to keep Rainey in prison. Also, Highway Patrol Superintendent Ernest Garcia submitted a letter opposing Rainey's parole.

I think it's odd how they always deny cop killers, not that they shouldn't, but they let child rapists and murderers and drug dealers out constantly.

I've always wondered the same thing, and, when something happens to a law enforcement person, they pull out all the stops, sparing no expense to investigate and prosecute the crime. Now, I do realize law enforcement people are critical to our community, I also know they do put themselves in harms way to protect the citizens. I wonder though if sending the message, a law enforcement persons life is more important and valuable than anyone else, is the right and fair thing to do. Like the guy that killed the 2 young people getting less than 20yrs in prison, for TWO murders. And yes, it is disturbing the horrible people they put back out in the community so quick, without hardly any punishment. I just do not think a cops life is any more valuable than mine, yours or anyone elses!! I'm sure there will be some mad people over my comment, and I'm sorry.

Oh, and feed and housing this creep for 30yrs is ridiculous, if there's no question he committed this murder, someone should have put a bullet in him, save the taxpayers some money!!

Granny does that go for soldiers too? So let's close Arlington? People who are willing to put themselves in harms way to save people they don't know should be given a little more.

Ksomething anyone that chooses to serve whatever position that is their choice. They are the same as any other murder victim and the killers of these people should all be treated the same.

Ksomething: I do not believe I included military/soldiers in my comment, however, since you brought this up I would like to say, I am VERY grateful to our military people and their families. They do make MANY sacrifices for the American people. What a ridiculous comment, NO I DO NOT THINK ARLINGTON SHOULD BE CLOSED!!! You are comparing apples and oranges! Since the draft no longer is in affect, the military people CHOOSE this as their occupation, they know the possibility they will be sent into harms way at some point, And, I am thankful we have people to choose to do this, our Country could not survive without them. I was simply pointing out that how does one value one human life over another? Because someone chose the job they are doing, this makes their life more valuable than perhaps a nurse, social worker that rescues kids, the guy that picks up my trash, the person that fixes my air conditioner, I think you get the jest, ALL human life is valuable in some way.

The exception to this though would be the damn pedophiles, murderers, rapists etc... the people that commit a crime against another human being does NOT deserve to be valued!!
