Heat Continues to Overwhelm Kansas
Associated Press - Mon 06:43 PM 07/23/2012
The mercury's rising and records are falling as the heat wave tightens its grip on Kansas.
The Hays Daily News reports that extreme drought now covers two-thirds of the state.
Norton's high of 118 on June 28 broke the previous high of 113 set three days earlier.
The newspaper said Cedar Bluff hit 110 on June 26 and 29, tying the old record set June 15, 2003. Colby had a high of 113 on June 28.
Oakley hit 111 on June 25 and 28, matching the previous June 11, 1954, high.
High temperatures of 110 or above are becoming the new normal for many towns. But as the temperatures rise, water levels at rivers and streams in the northwest part of the state are falling.

Here we go another story like this but our emergency manager Joe Koch still refuses to have a burning ban. What is he thinking? Why doesn't those above him get something going?

iamgonnagetu..it is like I tell people out here where I live. If you want something done by local government you must get involved at the commission meetings. Stating concerns on the internet news sites just doesn't quite get action and results. Attend the commission meetings, call the city manager, call the county administrator, write official letters of concern, etc. Until we the people get involved and put our feet down desirable results cannot happen. Just a suggestion.

Hillbilly ideally you are right but when people contact and are ignored like with the fireworks the only thing left is to vote these people out. Looks like Reynolds and Fowler will be gone and they need to get rid of that Deister gal as well.
