Security cameras lead to an arrest.
Following a string of burglaries beginning in May, the Saline County Sherriff's Office arrested David Ryals, 37 of Assaria.
Ryals stole a tackle box from a shed earlier this month. The owner of the shed had a camera set up and took a picture of Ryals and his truck. The box was later recovered in McPherson County.
The Saline County Sherriff's Office had a warrant for his arrest.
A home in the 7000 block of S. Ohio reported their Salina Journal newspapers were being stolen. The Sherriff's Office put a camera on the mailbox while the family was on vacation. A total of 20 newspapers had been stolen. The camera took a picture of the theif and discovered it to be Ryals' truck.
Ryals was then arrested. After his arrest, Ryals admitted to stealing curtains from a home in Smolan in early June, and stealing a jar of change from a home on Burma Road. Both of these homes received damage to the doors.
Ten newspapers were also taken by Ryals in the 1200 block of E. Lapsley.
