The machinists union for Hawker Beechcraft is trying to block the proposed sale of the struggling aircraft manufacturer to a Chinese company. But the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers hasn't had much success rallying support in Washington.

The union says allowing the sale of Wichita-based Hawker Beechcraft's business jet and general aviation operations to Superior Aviation Beijing Company Limited, would give China access to technology it doesn't yet have.

Kansas' Republican senators have ignored requests to comment about the issue and the GOP congressman who represents Wichita's district says the deal could save thousands of U.S. jobs.

Hawker Beechcraft announced this month it entered into a bankruptcy court-approved, 45-day "exclusivity

You union folks are so smart, buy it and call it employee owned. When you have a piece of the pie, you will start smacking that co-worker of yours that brags about taking an hour when he goes to the bathroom. Been there. done that.

I see it this way. 1: Union buys the facility and tries to turn it around (likely never to happen). 2: Succeed in blocking the sale and losing their jobs flat out. or 3: Shut the hell up and possibly save their jobs, at least for awhile.

The unions did such a good job at keeping Hawker here in Salina let them try. The unions need to realize that their system is antiquated and no longer works for the employees other than leading them to being unemployed.China could do no worse for the employees, at least with communism you expect to get shafted and you don't have to pay union dues.

Amazing, you would rather have communist China own american companies and crap all over americans that want to work. People's hate on the working class is incredible. I bet none of you work for a corporation and if you claim that you have probably kissed butt to high hell. Sell outs to China and yet you blame obama, that is the republican voting class.

The greed of the American worker is what is killing the working class. I know what benefits and pay the workers received at Hawker and I was baffled that they still demanded more, the workers and their union deserved to have the rug jerked out from underneath them and lose their jobs to Mexico. Union greed is what is killing the working class and giving job opportunities to foreign workers, just look at the steel industry and where it went-look for the union label!

I don't see anyone hating any American's iamme... what most smart people and those with common sense realize is that unions are an outdated and mismanaged way of doing things. The unions care more about lining the union leaders pockets than about the common worker so don't think any of us are going to think otherwise. i was a union (basically forced to be) "member" for years. But when we had the chance and the numbers to get rid of them. WE DID. because it was more beneficial to us to NOT have a union stealing our wages from us and to use existing laws that protect employee's from any unscrupulous employers. I have worked for a corporation. The very one we kicked the union out of. And are better off for it today and have MORE money coming to US in our paycheck every week.
