County Approves Mill Levy Increase

2.3 mill levy increase approved
Saline County Commissioners Tuesday voted unanimously to raise the mill levy to help fund the 2013 budget.
Commissioners voted 3 - 0 for a 2.3 mill levy increase.
About 50 percent of the 2012 budget, which is slightly smaller than the 2012 budget, will be funded through property taxes which are controlled via the mill levy.
County Administrator Rita Deister noted that the 2013 budget has been one of the toughest she had to deal with.
Along with the mill levy increase, the county is doing several other things to help address the budget. A hiring freeze went into effect on June 5th. Also, several positions in multiple offices have been eliminated.
The county also approved the formation of a new drug court. The drug court will deal strictly with misdemeanor drug offenders, and save the county money by creating fewer prisoners to house and fewer cases in district court.

Could not happen at a better time. All the more reason to vote these 2 out and when the other one comes up for election send him away also. The nerve of these 3 jerks. Rita needs to be gone also.

typical fork tongue double talking people in these city county positions , they talk of cutting pay cutting services cutting this and if they are elected officals they brag about how they have save the taxpayers its all bull time to vote out anyone who doesn't take a stand and say no more

"...welfare king's and queen's..." On the bright side, at least most of us have a high school education. Thus, we are aware that an apostrophe before an "S" denotes possessive, not plural. Properly formed, the sentence would read, "...welfare kings and queens..." I will give you partial credit for at least attempting to post in English.

The vote is in and Reynolds can go back to chasing ambulance 's full time once again and Fowler will have to get a real job with his one year of college.
