A Wichita restaurant's plans to serve lion among other exotic meats is drawing outrage from around the country.
Chef Jason Febres from the restaurant "Taste & See" is planning an event on Tuesday of next week that features among other things on the menu wild hare from Scotland, Indian farm-raised alpaca, Australian kangaroo loin fillets, and African lion. None of the animals on the menu are endangered species.
The $160-a-person dinner is sold out.
A campaign against the event has gained support from around the country.
The restaurant closed its Facebook page less than 24 hours after opponents began leaving feedback there. Advocates are also encouraging people to call the restaurant and city council in the days leading up to the planned event.
