The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has issued a boil water advisory for the Dickinson Co. Rural Water District #2 public water system.

The water district serves water to parts of several counties but the majority of the system is located in southwest Dickinson County and eastern Saline County.

Some of the district water supply may experience a loss of pressure in the water system due to scheduled waterline maintenance Monday evening. When such a loss of pressure occurs, it is possible for contaminants to enter the system. Chlorine residuals may also drop to levels that are inadequate to protect against bacterial contamination.

Effective once service is restored, customers should observe the following precautions until further notice:

· Boil water for one minute prior to drinking or food preparation, or use bottled water.

· Dispose of ice cubes and do not use ice from a household automatic icemaker.

· Disinfect dishes and other food contact surfaces by immersion for at least one minute in clean tap water that contains one teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water.

· Water used for bathing does not generally need to be boiled. Supervision of children is necessary while bathing so that water is not ingested. Persons with cuts or severe rashes may wish to consult their physicians.

· If your tap water appears dirty, flush the water lines by letting the water run until it clears.

A list of communities effected or a map would be nice. Hopefully New Cambria is not effected though we are in eastern Salina County on Ottawa No. 2.

I am on this district and have had nothing but problems with how it is run. Why are they not calling the customers about this? If a customer does not get the paper or have a computer they are up the river. If someone gets sick from this I hope they sue the district and the 2 people running it.

DICKINSON COUNTY RURAL WATERDISTRICT NO. 2. , as the name says, serves Dickinson County residents. It does not serve your trailer park on North 13th.

Learn to read it serves Dickinson County and PARTS OF EASTERN SALINE COUNTY. It is managed by the gal that just quit from the zoning board Mary Douglas. My understanding no contact was made by her to the patrons of the district. This type of situation calls for the district to make sure all patrons are aware. Many she needs to resign her position here also.

Looks like one of the posters is getting a little upset about comments where he resides. Maybe if he got a job instead of sitting on here 24/7 he could afford better housing and maybe even be on this water district.
