Burglars Remove Computers from Businesses

Jeff Garretson - Tue 04:47 PM 10/09/2012

A couple of computers are stolen from two Salina businesses.

According to Lt. Scott Siemsen, police are investigating two burglaries that authorities say are likely connected.

Someone smashed a back window at the Jeff Wells' American Family Insurance building at 440 S. Ohio, sometime between Sunday evening at 6pm and Monday morning at 7:35am.

Once inside, police say one main computer server tower was taken as well as a laptop with docking station.

Also stolen was an Oakley brand pair of sunglasses plus a white/gold commemerative ring valued at $3,500.

Total loss and damage is estimated at $6,700. Siemsen tells KSAL News that not customer information was compromised.

Police say nearby during the same timeframe - someone forced open a backdoor at Heartland Adjustments, 801 E. Prescott.

Burglars removed the hardrive out of one computer and stole an HP tower along with a Sea Gate external drive, plus four digital cameras.

Total loss and damage in this case is listed at $2,700.

Crime is down by 37.5% over the past 9 years. Fantastic record for our fantastic law enforcement agencies and their fantastic leaders. Keep up the fantastic work. VICTORY for sure.

For the third time crime is not down 37.5% just a matter of the chief of police being called on the carpet because of taxpayer complaints trying to save his job.

No way is crime down in the past nine years. You used to read about some crime taking place every once in a while but in the past 9 years that has escalated to what we have now which is several crimes being reported by the media every day. This does not include those crimes that are not being reported by the media. Salina has a crime wave occurring and neither law enforcement agency is capable under the leadership we presently have to do anything about it.
