Thieves Steal $113,000 Worth Of Copper, Batteries

Salina police report copper was stolen from three industrial compressor units on the east side of the building. Inside, 40 Exide, 12 volt, deep-cycle batteries were taken.
A vacant commercial building at 2771 Centennial was broken into sometime between October 13th and October 24.

The building is owned by George Plante. Total loss has been set at $113,000.

Thats what I'm thinking too....113,000 in copper and batteries would have to amount to a heluva lot of copper and lead.

They don't go by the scrap value of the metal. 40 batteries at lets say $50-70 a piece is $2000-3000. And 3 Industrial Air Conditioners could be 30,000 each but I doubt it.

Its compressors , not air conditioners... have you ever priced an industrial compressor? They can range in the 10k to the 70k mark assuming they meant industrial air compressors.... i do agree it sounds fishy though

the point is that it was a theft, and the criminal should suffer when he gets caught....im sure the thief has gotten away with other crimes so that this will even out in the long run on his part provided he gets caught.
