I knew there were a lot of ignorant people in Salina, I just thought there would be 50% plus one that were not.

Glad you don't either. The people have spoke and the outcome is as what was expected. Norlin brought this on us and the ordinance was defeated as well as her ambitions for running for office. But our job is not done we need to remove the 3 commissioners that supported this when they come up for re-election to complete this issue.

That is soooo funny, you shove something down the people's throats and it is welcomed and needed. When the people speak up and vote to get rid of it then they are called ignorant. That wonderful art should have been put to the vote, the wonderful riverwalk needs to be voted on, the new convention center needs to be voted on. Let the people of Salina tell our leaders what they want from the City and County they support, the way is should be. If other tax payers don't like it, then move to Colorado where you can at least puff your troubles away. I voted and I am proud of it, but I am not going to attack those who voted differently. If I don't like that LBGT was repealed then I will pack up my stuff and move. Can't say the people didn't speak on this one.

I would like to know why many people would vote to repeal this? They speak of religious freedoms. Does the Bible teach intolerance? Does it teach prejudice? I don't know what Bible people are studying, but the Bible I've studied teaches compassion, tolerance, understanding, forgiveness, and acceptance for everyone, not just believers. Why would you turn someone away? Because they know how to love passionately? Open you mind, and more importantly open your heart. I consider myself a christian and I openly support LGBT because it is the RIGHT thing to do. I welcome your argument as to why I am wrong.

Cassie & GetAGrip, this isn't exactly a grey area. Do you allow discrimination or do you not allow discrimination based on sexual orientation is the question. And why? What is the reason for your opinion. I'm not trying to sway you into a non-winning argument. I'm trying to understand your opinion as best I can. The Ordinance has nothing to do with protecting religious freedoms, which is the argument I've heard repeated over and over. I don't understand, so please explain it to me. You commented, so you have an opinion you'd like to voice, and I would like to debate it. You debate to rationalize an opinion, so please try an rationalize yours, since you were willing to respond to me.
