Chiefs Fans Tailgate, Mourn Player Murder-Suicide
- Sun 01:05 PM 12/02/2012
Fans grilled, played catch and enjoyed beverages on an unseasonably warm and sunny day outside Arrowhead Stadium, a little more than 24 hours after a Chiefs player killed himself nearby after shooting his girlfriend. The festive atmosphere masked some of the pain Chiefs fans felt after hearing that linebacker Jovan Belcher had killed 22-year-old Kasandra M. Perkins then driven to the team practice facility and turned the gun on himself, orphaning the couple's infant daughter. Coach Romeo Crennel and general manager Scott Pioli tried to stop Belcher, but instead watched as he shot himself in the head. Before kickoff, the crowd was asked to observe a moment of silence for victims of domestic violence and their families. There was no mention of Belcher.

I feel bad for this cowards girlfriend and baby. But as far as mourning him? I don't get it. Since when does the general public mourn a murderer?

At all cost the families mourn the death of both of them. That child is left without parents. In the future that child will need to be told what happened. That will be the hardest part for both families. I hope that both sides of the families come to terms with all that has happened.

I too feel for the families of both the young lady and the murdering idiot that killed her. The family of this guy will have to live with this and what he did the rest of their lives. As hard as it will be for HER family, I hope, for the sake of the baby, BOTH families will sit down, talk and come to terms with this mess. The baby will need the love and support of ALL family members in the years to come. BUT, FOR PETES SAKE, STOP MAKING THIS GUY OUT TO BE SOME SORT OF SAINT!!!! What he did was HORRIBLE!! If the fans want to mourn, tailgate or have any sort of a memorial, DO IT FOR THE YOUNG LADY!!! She was the TRUE victim, her and her surviving baby.
