Salina Central Hoops Players Volunteer Time And Muscle
KSAL Staff - Sat 11:32 AM 12/08/2012
After a couple of tough losses Friday night, the Salina Central High School boys and girls basketball teams headed to the gym bright and early for a workout early Saturday morning. Not your typical workout, like a practice, but rather the players gathered at the Salina Salvation Army to help unload truckloads of food.
The teams spent several hours not just hauling the food into the Salvation Army's gymnasium, but then using it to fill 600 boxes. Each box is filled with the ingredients for a complete Christmas dinner. Hams will later be handed out when the food boxes are distributed in a couple of weeks.
The food was donated through Project Salina. The boxes of food will go to qualified local families in need.
Roxanne Matous from the Salvation Army tells KSAL News that the assistance from the teams is a huge boost to the effort. This is the sixth year in row that the Salina Central basketball teams have volunteered to help with the project.

Congratulations to the kids and parents....everyone involved in a worthwhile event. My only question is....what about South & Sacred Heart? Are they too busy or did anyone ask them to help? Maybe they have other similar projects they're involved with.....but it makes a person wonder.
